Hello everyone, and good afternoon. Today, I'm going to demonstrate some AcuroVet features that we don't usually cover—features you may not know we have, or features you know about but may not currently use or know how to use to their full capacity.
We're going to cover features that aren't commonly spotlighted, including different image-based forms, customizable visit forms, consent forms, and the Communication tab. We'll run through these main features that we don't necessarily review often, but that are still available.
As always, there will be time for questions. Feel free to unmute yourself and ask any questions you may have. If you signed up for the webinar but aren't able to attend live, we will send out a recorded version.
If you need to leave early, or if you're watching the recorded version and have questions, feel free to send an email. I'm happy to answer any additional questions afterward. With that being said, we'll go ahead and get started.
Going into the medical notes, we're going to view this visit and review some image-based forms. Most people have seen our rehabilitation or holistic medicine forms, such as the acupuncture, chiropractic, rehabilitation, and laser forms.
Most people probably know what those forms look like and use them often, but we have other image-based forms that I want to spotlight. In the Exam section, you'll see all the available subsystems. Anything with the dog icon next to it is where an image-based form is stored.
For example, we have a dental image-based form. Clicking it opens the form so you can complete all your charting. It has preset teeth, and you can select each individual tooth to bring up examination notes and mark it accordingly.
You can also add your own notes. If there is an ulcer, double-click that area and enter the details. This lets you customize the image-based form and place all your notes exactly where they apply.
Dental is probably the most popular image-based form in the Exam section, but we have others as well. On the musculoskeletal form, you can double-click and specify the type of examination you're performing, such as a range-of-motion examination, and enter your notes.
The musculoskeletal form is customizable. Nothing is preset, so you can double-click, add your notes, and customize it however you want. We also have an ophthalmology image-based form for dogs, cats, horses, and cows.
The ophthalmology form isn't commonly known, but it is available. As with the other forms, you can double-click an area such as the cornea and add your notes. If you're certified to perform OFA eye examinations, you can document and mark up your findings directly on the form.
As with any other image-based form, double-click where you want to add notes and enter them there. Next, we'll review the Wellness tab. Many people primarily use Wellness for vaccines, but it can also include heartworm tests, fecal tests, and other tests you may run.
Almost any wellness test can be recorded here. For a heartworm test, enter the result, performed date, and next due date. For a fecal test, enter the result and performed date, and schedule a recheck date if the patient needs to return.
You can also add other routine wellness tests. If you don't see a test listed, place it under Other, enter the result, and add a note identifying the test. You can attach a service code so the test is identified correctly, particularly for billing.
You can also enter wellness notes. Selecting the Wellness Notes section opens a blank text box where you can type your notes. For example, during a general examination or routine wellness check, you can document the relevant wellness information there.
The Wellness section isn't limited to fecal tests or items requiring reminders. You can add basic client-facing notes for routine puppy visits, annual examinations, shots, vaccines, and other general wellness care. Although many people only use this tab for vaccines, it supports a much wider range of information.
Moving into Settings, we'll look at Communication. A common question is how to configure client reminders and send them. If you're currently using AcuroVet, you know this is a one-way communication system that sends notifications to clients by text message, email, or both.
The system sends whichever notifications you configure. Clients cannot reply to the text message or email, and there are no additional fees for these reminders. They are simple notifications; clients must contact the practice directly to reschedule or cancel.
To edit an appointment reminder, go to the right side, select the three dots, and click Edit. The reminder includes customizable fields such as the pet's name, clinic, appointment date and time, clinic phone number, and owner's first name.
Anything shown in brackets is automatically populated by the software. For example, the pet-name field inserts the name of the pet receiving the notification. You can also choose how far in advance to send the reminder, such as one or two days before the examination.
